Cornish Maine Wedding Photographer // No Matter The Time Of Year, Maine & New Hampshire Provides The Most Wonderful Backdrops

As a wedding and engagement photographer, one of the most exciting aspects of my job is the opportunity to capture my couple’s story against the ever-changing backdrop of the seasons. While this year's winter has been surprisingly devoid of snow, the beauty of the changing seasons offers endless inspiration. From the first sprouts of spring to the unforgettable foliage of New England falls, let's explore how each season can provide the perfect setting for your photoshoot.

As the first flowers begin to sprout and the Spring finally starts after a long winter, I love to find fields and woods that really show off the greenery of the settings. Couples really enjoy shooting in these environments especially after Maine’s amazing mud season!

Summer offers a classic backdrop with its bright, sunny days and, obviously, of the ocean. Beach sessions during this season are incredibly popular, offering a relaxed setting for engagement or wedding photos. The stark contrast between the soft sands, the rush of waves, and the endless blue sky can make any session memorable. And for those seeking a more adventurous vibe, a mountaintop session with the golden light of a setting sun can really set the stage for any portrait session.

There's something magical about fall in New England, making it an ideal backdrop for photoshoots. The explosion of colors—from vibrant reds and oranges to subtle yellows—creates a tapestry that is breathtaking. The cooler temperatures and soft, golden light offer comfortable and flattering conditions for photography. Incorporating the rich colors and textures of the fall foliage into your photos not only adds depth but also a sense of warmth.

Though this year has left us longing for the snowy scenes typical of winter photoshoots, winter’s past have been amazing backdrops for wedding pictures. Winter, with its snowy landscapes and bare trees, can provide a minimalist backdrop that puts the focus not only on the couple but how beautiful winters can really be here.

Beyond the natural settings, seasonal celebrations like fairs and festivals offer vibrant and dynamic backdrops for engagement sessions. The lights, colors, and movement of a fair can capture the joy and excitement of a couple's journey. Whether it's the whimsical atmosphere of a spring carnival or the rustic charm of a fall fair, these settings add a unique narrative element to your photos.

Each season, with its distinct characteristics and moods, offers a unique canvas for capturing the emotion of my couples.
