Cornish Maine Engagement Session // Katherine & Oliver // Wolfe's Neck State Park, Freeport
How it began: Katherine & Oliver first met at a frat party while Katherine was celebrating her 21st birthday with friends. Oliver saw her across the room while she was getting a drink at the bar and came over to introduce himself. They talked for the rest of the night.
The proposal story: Oliver had planned an amazing proposal. They had gone out to California to visit Katherine’s family. It was Thanksgiving, but they went out a few days early to spend sometime in Napa by themselves. They stopped at Muir Woods on their way. In the morning, Oliver suggested that they stop at a cliff overlooking the ocean before going to Muir Woods. He had even suggested that Katherine put on something nicer, but she told him that her leggings and oversized sweatshirt looked amazing. She was clueless! When they got out of the car, she saw a box in Oliver’s pocket and knew exactly what was going on. They walked down the walkway a bit and Oliver got down on one knee and proposed. Katherine thought that she was joking! He assured her that he was not and she happily said yes!
Fast forward to the planing process. Katherine reached out to me to photograph her wedding in Sebago. Loving all things Sebago, of course, I was excited! Living not too far away, we agreed on doing an engagement session so we could meet and, of course, get some epic pictures along the way!
Katherine and Oliver picked Wolfe’s Neck State Park for their session. I love Wolfe’s Neck because it has a little bit of everything. We started in the field just to get the ball rolling. Katherine and Oliver laughed and as I took the first round of pictures.
Next we were off to the water. We stopped at the wooden bridge and took some pictures. Then it was to the rocks on the water. I posed Katherine and Oliver and gave them a few prompts. I did some pictures with lighting and some without. I find that it gives just a little more variety to the gallery for the couple.
There was another photographer in the first area, so we went to the salt flats for a little bit of privacy. Katherine and Oliver had brought a bottle of champagne with them. It was the perfect setting to pop the bottle. Oliver shook the bottle and let the cork go. It was great! They both drank the champagne straight from the bottle ghetto style. I actually suggest this to most couples, it makes for amazing champagne pictures!
The sun was starting to set at this point so we did some sunset pictures and called it. Katherine and Oliver were so fun to photograph. I absolutely can not wait for their wedding!
