Veronika and Peter originally met in high school French class where they lived in Montana! Yep! They were high school sweet hearts! They started out as friends, but later started dating towards the end of high school.

After surviving a year of the pandemic in their tiny studio apartment in NYC, Peter decided to propose. They had a stay-at-home date night and ordered a big meal from their favorite restaurant. At the end of the meal, Peter proposed! Obviously, Veronika said yes! It was a very down-to-earth night with good food. It was absolutely perfect!

Fast forward to now. Peter and Veronika decided to get married on a relative’s property here in Maine. I told them that I thought that was a great choice! I love “backyard” weddings! With most of their planning done, we decided to do their engagement pictures done during one of their trips to Maine.

They wanted a wooded feel to their photos, so we shot at my favorite place… my house!!

I had already plotted out the tour of my 25 acre farm well before they had arrived. One of the perks of living where you shoot is knowing exactly where the light falls and when. We started on the trail, walking through the woods, taking advantage of the golden hour light peaking out in-between the trees. We next went over to my apple tree field. I purposely told my husband not to mow to give that beautiful sweeping grass effect. It looked great for the photos! Veronika and Peter really made my job easy. They had fun and joked with one an other while we walked the property.

Next we were off to a cluster of birch trees that just sits in the middle of the forest. It always looks super cool to me and I have always wanted to shoot pictures there! So was super excited to be able to do something cool for my couple there! By then, the sun had started to set and golden hour was done. So, of course, I grabbed my lights and made some really cool pictures of Veronika and Peter with the colorful sky. We had a beautiful sunset with some amazing sweeping clouds.

The black flies were crazy, but overall it was perfect weather and an awesome evening for Veronika and Peter’s pictures.
