Cornish Maine Wedding Photographer // Remember It's YOUR Wedding Day, Not Your Families
As a wedding photographer, I have seen many beautiful weddings and have worked with countless families. However, there is one issue that I have noticed arise time and time again, and that is the confusion between the couple's wedding day and the family's wedding day.
It's essential to understand that this day belongs to the couple, and it's a celebration of their love and commitment to each other. While family plays an important role in the wedding, it's important to remember that it's not about one family members need to push outdated traditions on the couple or pursue a squabble with another family member. Here are some reasons why it's important to stress this to the family.
First and foremost, it can help to reduce stress and tension on the wedding day. Weddings can be stressful enough, and adding additional pressure from family members can create unnecessary tension. By reminding everyone that this is the couple's day, it allows everyone to focus on what's important and reduce any added stress.
Secondly, it allows the couple to have the wedding they want. Every couple has their own vision of what they want their wedding day to look like, and it's important to respect that. Their day doesn’t have to be exactly like their parents. Traditions change and many become outdated and even a little cringe with time. (Please stop putting the garter on young girls. It is gross.) While family may have their own ideas, it's important to remember that it's not their day, and the couple's wishes should be respected.
Finally, it allows for a more enjoyable experience for everyone. When everyone is on the same page and understands that this is the couple's day, it allows everyone to enjoy the experience and celebrate the love between the couple.
As a wedding photographer, I have seen the impact that a family's involvement can have on a wedding day. While it's important to have family involved, it's equally important to stress to everyone that this day belongs to the couple. By doing so, it can help to reduce stress, allow for the couple to have the wedding they want, and create a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
