Maine & New Hampshire Wedding Photographer // Margot & Adam // Squad Lake, NH

Let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like shooting an engagement session at a place that’s practically bursting with meaning for a couple. For Margot and Adam, that place is Margot’s family camp on Squam Lake in New Hampshire. And let me also tell you, this camp is a whole vibe.

When I pulled up, it was one of those almost-spring afternoons where it’s not freezing, but also not exactly warm. The lake was mostly frozen, and the light was just starting to flirt with golden hour. Margot and Adam greeted me and immediately started showing me around.

We kicked things off—literally—on the ice. Yep, I had those two standing right out there on the frozen lake. Don’t worry, no one fell through (although I had my mental escape route planned just in case). The way the sun hit the ice was pure magic, and Margot and Adam’s goofiness took care of the rest. They cracked jokes, giggled nonstop, and made the whole thing look like a rom-com montage.

Next up, we wandered over to this little bridge that connects the main land to a tiny peninsula. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to bust out a picnic basket and a bottle of wine. I had them hold hands and stroll like I wasn’t there. Spoiler: They nailed it.

Then came the A-frame cabin. This place is tiny, quaint, and oh-so-cute—basically Pinterest in building form. It’s where Adam and the groomsmen will be getting ready on the big day. The light streaming through the trees was dreamy, and Margot and Adam’s “OMG, we’re so cute” energy was off the charts.

After that, we made a pit stop back at the lake for some epic, artsy shots. I busted out some lighting gear to really make the frozen water and sky pop. Honestly, it was a vibe. Margot and Adam just stood there, looking effortlessly cool while nature basically begged to be their backdrop.

We wrapped things up on this adorable little path between the house and the gate. I had them walk, bumping hips and laughing like they’d just heard the world’s best dad joke. By this point, they were pros at being cute on command. And then, as if the universe was giving us a round of applause, the sky exploded into this ridiculous golden-orange glow. Cue the swooning.

Look, I’ve shot at some amazing places, but there’s something about a family camp on a lake that just hits different. It’s intimate, cozy, and way cooler than any golf course could ever dream of being. Margot and Adam’s session was all kinds of fun, and if this is a preview of their wedding next year, I’m going to need tissues…and maybe a second camera, because I’ll probably be crying.

Can’t wait for round two with these two next year. It’s going to be epic.
