Cornish Maine Wedding Photographer // A Day In The Life of a Wedding Photographer
The life of a wedding photographer is often romanticized as a constant whirlwind of capturing beautiful moments, but the reality is that much of my work takes place behind the scenes, away from the camera lens. Here's a glimpse into a typical day in my life, shedding light on the less visible, yet equally essential, aspects of my profession.
My day typically begins with the morning rush—ensuring everyone in the family is ready and dropping the kids off at school before I finally settle into my home office. The first order of business is catching up on emails, responding to client inquiries, and finalizing any pending administrative tasks. This sets the tone for the day, ensuring that all communication channels are open and operational.
As the morning progresses, I dive into editing. This is where the magic happens. For the next couple of hours, I meticulously sift through the images captured during recent sessions, fine-tuning each photograph to ensure that it encapsulates the essence and emotion of the moment it represents. Editing is an art form in itself, and it is during these solitary hours that I bring the stories I've captured to life.
The midday brings a phone consultation with a couple, discussing the details of their upcoming wedding and addressing any questions or concerns they may have. This is followed by a whirlwind lunch, often too brief, before I return to the screen to continue editing. The day is punctuated with moments dedicated to crafting blog posts, updating my website with new content and galleries, and preparing and sending out guides for upcoming sessions.
Contrary to popular belief, a significant portion of my day is spent at my computer, tending to the myriad of tasks that are essential to the success of my business. While photography itself is undeniably a crucial component of my work, the unseen side of the lens—comprising client communication, editing, administrative duties, and business management—comprises the bulk of my responsibilities.
