Maine & New Hampshire Wedding Photographer // Maria & Shane's Engagement Session
There’s something truly special about photographing couples at their home. The connection they have with their house, the land, and the comfort they feel in such familiar surroundings make for some of the most amazing pictures. Shane and Maria’s engagement session on their sprawling 100-acre farm was no exception.
When I arrived at their farm, the sun was beginning to set, casting a warm, golden hue over the landscape. Our first stop was the pond, a special spot to the couple with a mossy path winding its way around the water’s edge. As Shane and Maria walked hand in hand, as they made their way down the path. It was the perfect place to start our photo shoot.
Next, we made our way to an area where Shane was building cabins. The couple’s vision of turning their farm into a wedding venue was coming to life. With one cabin nearly complete, we took advantage of the soft, golden hour glow, posing them in front of the rustic structure.
From there, we headed to the fields where Maria grows her vegetables and flowers. Despite trimming the flowers back the day before, they had already begun to grow back. The fields provided a colorful, natural backdrop that perfectly complemented Shane and Maria.
As the session progressed, we moved to the barn at the front of their property. This location was ideal for creating something more dramatic. Using lighting techniques to accentuate the textures and lines of the barn, I captured some of my favorite images of the day. The contrast between the rustic backdrop and the couple was perfect.
I can’t wait for their wedding day and to see their wedding venue take shape.
