Cornish Maine Wedding Photographer // Maxwell & Merrill 10.16.21 // Windham, Maine

Way, way back on New Year’s Eve 2019, Maxwell surprised Merrill by proposing to her. They are high school sweet hearts, so they knew it was going to happen eventually! Planning for their 2020 began!

2020 had different plans for Maxwell and Merrill’s wedding. When they were originally planning their wedding, they wanted to have all their close friends and family by their side. Unfortunately, a pandemic changed their plan and they wound up getting married in a very small ceremony at Hacker’s Hill in 2020 surrounded by only the closest of their friends and family. It was a beautiful and simple celebration, but Maxwell and Merrill decided that they wanted to renew their vows a year later surrounded by everyone that they originally had invited to their wedding.

Maxwell and Merrill’s vow renewal took place on the most perfect day at the Tricky-White House in Windham, Maine. The ceremony site was laid out on the front lawn with simple wooden chairs surrounded by beautiful flower gardens. The forecast had called for rain but the sun was shining bright in the sky! Merrill’s mother did all the floral arragements and Merrill’s bouquet, which was huge and gorgeous!

During their ceremony, Maxwell and Merrill did the Handfasting ritual of tying their hands together. This is an ancient Celtic ritual in which the hands are tied together to symbolize two lives being bound to one another. Its always so cute to watch couples do these sorts of things as their wedding. It’s also great entertainment for their guests!

Cocktail hour began with family playing acoustic guitars and singing along to the couples favorite songs. Everyone relaxed, ate and drank until the dances started. It was easy to see why Maxwell and Merrill wanted to have a redue of their wedding. They went around the tent and made sure that they spoke to all their guests. It was probably one of the more laid back weddings that I have been to!

After all the formal dances, the dance floor opened up and everyone cut loose. It was such a great wedding and I was so stoked to be apart of their journey over the past 2 years!

2022 is really booking up fast! I may have another crazy year like 2021 on my hands!
