Cornish Maine Wedding Photographer // Seth & Amy // Sunday River, Newry, Maine

Amy & Seth had been enduring a long distance relationship for awhile. She had planned a trip to Ohio to visit him, not suspecting that he was about to propose. Seth had hired a photographer and a 2 man band to “randomly” play their song while they were walking through a rose garden. While the photographer pretended to take pictures of the band, Seth proposed. Which was immediately followed by an impromptu engagement session. Amy is not a big fan of surprises, but I’m sure that this one was ok!

Seth moved back to Maine so he and Amy could start a family together. During this time, they also started planning their wedding, which is where I come in. Amy was already pregnant with Maeve when they contacted me about shooting their wedding at the Jordan. I was super excited because they wanted to do a newborn session instead of an engagement session. A few months later, Maeve was born and I made the trek up to their home to do pictures. I honestly don’t know which is a better way to meet my clients, an engagement session or right after they have a baby!

Fast forward to the wedding, it was a little chilly and windy up on the mountain at Sunday River, but the foliage was at peak and was absolutely breathtaking . Seth was busy setting everything up when I arrived. He got the dessert table looking perfect, while Amy’s mother put the table centerpieces together.

Amy was upstairs getting her makeup done by her daughter while she played with the baby on her lap. Talk about multitasking! Her friend curled her hair, while everyone quietly got ready. Amy’s mom came up after she was done getting the tables ready, so she could watch the baby and help Amy into her dress. You could really feel how close this family was the way that everyone was pitching in to help get it all together.

The time had come for Amy & Seth to do their first look & vows. Seth stood under the arbor overlooking the mountains. Amy tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around. The couple shared a few quiet words and then read each other their vows privately. It started to drizzle as we did a few portraits. Seth & Amy went back inside to sign the ketubah.

The guests all started to arrive and get seated. Seth walked down the aisle with his parents. Amy’s oldest daughter and son stood by her side as she married Seth. As the ceremony started, so did the rain. Well, you know what they say, rain is good luck on a wedding day. The rabbi tried to shorten the ceremony as much as possible, so as to get the guests back inside from the rain. He wrapped up all the formalities and Seth stomped on the glass. It was official, they were married!

Inside the guests played with the Photo Booth as they were served dinner. Seth and Amy had all the typical dances except, Amy danced with her older kids as well as her mom and dad. It was beautiful to see all of the support that she had from her whole family. Next came my favorite Jewish Wedding tradition, the Hora. Seth and Amy’s guests lifted them up on chairs as they danced around them in circles. And, just like that, the dance floor was open! The guests all drank and danced. It truly was an amazing wedding!
