Cornish Maine Newborn Photographer // Kyson// New Baby Photo Shoot

Typically I start these blogs by saying how great the baby did and how they slept the whole session, blah, bah, blah. But little Kyson was not interested in sleeping for his session. Instead, he stayed wide awake, talking and looking around. Literally zero desire to sleep. But it was perfect, because as it turns out, Kyson also has incredible eye contact, which most newborns do not.

Ironically the first setup that I had prepared was putting Kyson with a sleepy cap on while laying down with sheep around his head. Counting sheep, get it?!? I think that I may have jinxed myself with this one. He did on the other hand lay there patiently probably thinking, “ok, now what do you want me to do?” He did yawn for one of them, which, personally, I think was a better picture.

Then I thought, well, maybe I’ll wrap him . That makes every baby on the face of the planet sleep. But sadly, Kyson did not. Luckily, like I said, Kyson made fantastic eye contact which makes for great newborn pictures. He sat in his basket all comfy talking and I even got a few smiles out of him…or gas.

Then it was time for an outfit change, which most babies get upset and cry when they have to get their outfits changed, but Kyson could care less. He sat there super happy and talked to me as I snapped away. I then put him in my little bowl, but he wasn’t super sure about that. He didn’t get upset but he also didn’t look happy, so we made that prop short lived.

Then a miracle happened. Kyson fell asleep for a whole 3 minutes. He couldn’t fight it anymore. I quickly took a bunch of different compositions. I suddenly got very brave and changed the scenery. I put him back on the sheep backdrop, because I was determined to get the shot of him sleeping or it really doesn’t makes sense right?!? He slept for a whole minute and I got the shot!

Next it was family time!! Kyson’s parents posed and held wide awake Kyson for their family pictures. Clearly, Kyson didn’t want to miss out on one second of his newborn session, but fortunately for him he’s awfully cute, so it all worked out!!
