Cornish Maine Wedding Photographer // Barn Wedding Venues
What kind of wedding photographer would I be if I didn’t blog about barn wedding venues. There are so many in the state of Maine, so I just picked a few of my favorites to write about. I also tried to pick a variety of different barn venues. Some are still working farms, while others are completely remodeled, fancier barns (if that’s a thing!).
First on my list is a barn that I have shot at a couple of times. King’s Hill Inn & Barn in South Paris Maine. I think I really enjoy shooting here for the array of ceremony sites. You can get married on the lawn, under birch trees, in their garden or, my favorite, in the woods. They also offer lodging for their couples and the immediate family. But the most impressive part is their barn. It’s super rustic and has a huge fireplace upstairs, which for me is awesome because I’m a big old sissy when it comes to the cold. For the couple, which is probably more important to you, It’s always decorated beautifully and looks amazing!
Next is Caswell Farm. I love this barn for the authenticity of the grounds. Caswell is a working farm with beautiful gardens surrounding the grounds. I know that getting married at a working farm is not for everyone, but I live on a working farm, so it kinda makes me happy to shoot there! The barn itself looks to be original for the most part, but I could be wrong. I particularly love the upstairs of the barn, where the guys typically get ready. It’s lighting is super moody and to die for. As a photographer, it makes me super happy. The gardens and small bridge, of course, give me the perfect backdrop for couples portraits.
Another working farm, wedding venue is Broadturn Farm. They have a very similar vibe to Caswell Farm. They have a large antique barn for dancing. They also grow all of their own flowers, so you can imagine how beautiful their gardens are! When I last shoot their a few years ago the ceremony was held in one of the fields and the reception was held in the barn. The property also has some walking trails that we used for pictures.
Next is Autumn Lane Estate. Located just a super short walk to Sebago Lake, Autumn Lane Estate is one of the more polished and a bit fancier barn venues that I have shot at. They offer lodging for the couple and separate places for both of them to get ready. They have planning services for their couples as well. The ceremony that I photographed took place right on the lawn under a ginormous tree. It was absolutely breath taking. Dinner was held in a tent, but all the dancing was right inside the barn. Right before sunset, the venue will drive the couple down to the beach on Sebago Lake to get some sunset pictures. It’s not quite lakeside but it is awefully close!
Lastly, is River Winds Farm and Estate. This is another polished, fancier barn venue that is actually a working farm, but you would never know it! The farm sits on many large fields making my job as a photographer when it came time to couple’s pictures, really easy to make them amazing! Both the bride and groom got ready in the big house (separate areas, of course!) My couple had their ceremony right out back under the apple trees. It was a very hot day, so being in the shade was the right move! Then everyone went into the spacious barn to eat dinner and enjoy all the dances and toasts. Seriously, the barn is huge and has plenty of room for tons of tables and the dance floor!
So there you have it, my super short list of barns that I enjoy shooting at. This list really could have been so much longer, but at some point it would start to become really redundant. I currently only have 3 openings for 2022 weddings before I close my books! Email me to set up a consult as soon as you have your date!
