Cornish, Maine Wedding Photographer // Brittney & Will // Squire Tarbox Inn, Winterport Island
First, let me start by saying that I know exactly why Brittney and Will chose to have their wedding at the Squire Tarbox Inn. It is the most adorable little inn filled with all sorts of antiques. This place has some serious charm!
Brittney decided the night before she was going to put her family to work by setting all the tables. So by the time I arrived the next day, the barn was almost completely finished, with the exception of the flowers of course! Each table setting was perfectly set each with a unique, vintage napkin and a single dried craspedia. The menus impeccably set showed the amazing meal that the caterer was cooking behind the venue.
Inside the inn, Brittney got her hair and makeup done as family came in and out, including Will. I love how casual they are and how comfortable they both were seeing each other before the ceremony. Brittney and Will had decided to just have 1 person each to stand by their side as they got married, instead of a large wedding party. This seems to be a new tradition , at least with the couples that pick me to photograph their wedding! So hair and makeup took a little shorter than usual.
The guys picked a front room with lots of light to put their suits on. They laughed together as they fixed their ties and adjusted their cuff links.
And, just like that, it was time for Brittney to put on her dress. Her mom and best friend both helped to get her dressed and put on her shoes. I think brides underestimate how hard it is to put shoes on while wearing a wedding dress!! The maid of honor strapped her shoes on, while Brittney explained to me how picking out her earrings was actually the hardest part of finding her wedding attire. She had settled in the most precious little gold hoops. They matched with her dress and shoes perfectly!
Then it was off to one of my favorite parts of the day, the first look! I always love the grooms reaction to seeing his bride for the first time in her dress, whether its at a first look or at the end of the aisle. This time was no exception, Will was in absolute awe of Brittney!
Brittney and Will had decided to do a quick and simple hand fasting ceremony. Britt’s brother officiated and wrapped the rope around their hands to make it official! It was one of the faster ceremonies that I have seen. He said a few words, Brittney and Will exchanged rings and sealed the deal with a kiss. It was a perfect ceremony!
After a brief cocktail hour, everyone congregated in the beautifully decorated barn for dinner. Brittney’s maid of honor and father said a few words followed by Will’s brother. It’s always fun to listen to the speeches! Dinner looked absolutely gorgeous. The guests all dug in and just enjoyed each other’s company.
Before I knew it the sun had started to go down. The field next to the inn had the most incredible light. I grabbed Will and Brittney and we went out for golden hour pictures. It was stunning. I don’t always get so lucky with light so I’m always grateful when I do! We walked the fields and laughed and joked around! These two were so laid back, it was amazing! We ended inside the barn, where there were no guests and set up some lighting for some unique pictures for Britt and Will. I love that I can offer something a bit different then some photographers!
We wrapped up the evening with cupcakes and pies. Not a horrible way to end the night!!
