Cornish Maine Wedding Photographer // Paige & TJ // Live Well Farm, Harpswell
I was super excited for TJ and Paige’s wedding. They, like me, have a farm. More specifically, we are “goat people”. Throughout the planning experience we often found ourselves talking about our goats and the pains of hoof trimming or what new treats we were feeding them. You would probably have to be a goat person to get that, but it really was an awesome conversation!
Paige and TJ are true millennials and met on Bumble. They had their first date in Hallowell and still go back there to celebrate how their relationship started!
TJ proposed to Paige one Tuesday in November while walking on the beach. Paige was taking a selfie with her dog, Jax to celebrate Jax’s adoption anniversary. Meanwhile TJ, was pulling the engagement ring out of his pocket. Paige turned around and TJ was on one knee and asked Paige to marry him. Obviously, she said yes! They now walk that beach often to remember their engagement.
On the day of the wedding, Paige & TJ had the most beautiful day! It was a tad warm, but atleast it wasn’t raining! I was greeted in the barn by Paige’s dad as he sat and relaxed while reading the paper. I unloaded my gear and grabbed some details from the girls.
The barn at Live Well Farm is not like a lot of the refurbished or fake, “perfect wedding barns” that are mass produced in Maine . It seems to be original, but maintained. the rustic floorboards were just what I was looking for, for a backdrop to detail pictures. In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m kinda into that kind of thing! With the details done, I went in to greet Paige and the rest of her bridal party.
Everyone was relaxing and enjoying themselves while getting their hair and makeup done. The girls were joking around and making videos of themselves to make “wedding content”. Not much later the guys arrived and started to get ready. With suits on and the dress all zipped up, it was time for the first look.
Paige and TJ chose to do their first look at the beach. TJ had arrived before us and had set himself up facing away from the ocean knowing that he wouldn’t be able to see Paige when we arrived. He did this all by himself with no direction from me or my assistant, which is typically how that works! It was so cute.
Paige walked slowly towards TJ. TJ turned around and was stunned to see Paige. I mean, that’s no shock, she was completely stunning! We did a few pictures and then they both got into TJ’s truck to go back to the venue.
Once we got back to Live Well Farm, it was time to bang out the family formals. All of Paige and TJ’s family followed directions and were by the barn when it was time to start their shoot. We got through all the planned groupings in no time at all. (Their wedding literally ran ahead of schedule almost the whole day, which never happens!)
Then it was game time! TJ sat inside talking to his wedding party about goats (myself included). While the girls grabbed their bouquets and lined up. I went out to watch the couple’s guests arrive. It was a hot one and while most of their guests sat in the seats, there were quite a few that opted for standing in the shade. I didn’t blame them at all! It was brutal in the sun.
The ceremony was kicked off by Paige’s Aunt Mary. It’s always nice to have a family member officiate the wedding. They all laughed while Mary told stories about the couple. After some brief words and exchanging of the rings, just like that the ceremony was over.
Paige and TJ decided to do a receiving line, is they could greet each of their guests individually. It was really sweet that they took the time to have a brief conversation with each of their friends and family!
Then the wedding party and newlyweds were introduced and the toasts began! Paige’s sister gave the most hilarious Spice Girls inspired speech, while Paige’s father and TJ’s best woman had a more emotional approach. Paige and TJ decided to start off slow with their first dance and bust into some pretty outstanding dance moves!
And, just like that, the party had started. Paige and TJ’s guests all danced and ate gelato. We went off for some golden hour pictures. We missed the sun (thanks to the tall trees at Live Well Farm), so I made my own light. We walked the property talking advantage of the tall grass, fields and trees. It was really beautiful.
The night ended in the barn of Live Well Farm. Guests danced and drank. I grabbed Paige and TJ away for one more set of pictures in the loft of the barn. We all know hw much I love a good loft! They had picked their venue for a reason and I wanted to make sure that I was able to capture them in a special way to be able to show that! As everyone danced, I snuck out to let them enjoy the rest of their night!!
