The wedding is most likely a year or two away, but it’s really never too early to start this process. I initiate conversations about the couple's vision and desired details. Most of the time I get “I hadn’t even thought of that yet”, but it does give my couples some ideas to think about in the upcoming months. This early engagement allows us to establish a strong foundation of trust and understanding, laying the groundwork for a seamless collaboration.
Around three months before the wedding, we dive into the nitty-gritty details. I kickstart this phase by sending an information packed email accompanied by a questionnaire. In the email, I offer advice and insights to help couples navigate the wedding planning process and set expectations for the photography experience. The questionnaire, on the other hand, serves as a valuable tool for me to gather crucial information. It aids in creating a family formal list, determining a prep timeline, and any specifics that need to be taken into consideration.
Following the email and questionnaire, we set up a phone call to discuss specific details and finalize the plans. During this conversation, we address any remaining questions or concerns. We meticulously go through the family formal list, ensuring that the important people are captured in group photos. Additionally, we establish a comprehensive prep timeline, accounting for all the key moments leading up to the ceremony, including a buffer in case the day gets off track. I know that no one wants to think of that, but if it happens the couple will be happy that we planned out some extra time. One of my favorite discussions revolves around the couples' portraits, where we explore options such as incorporating a first look or capturing golden hour and sunset shots.
