Maine & NH Wedding Photographer // Brittany & Dan's Engagement Session // Cornish, Maine
Some days just feel perfect for a photoshoot, and Brittany and Dan's engagement session was exactly that. It was one of those crisp fall days—not too hot, not too cold. My farm was the backdrop for their session, and it couldn't have been more fitting, especially with their two young boys, DJ and Nate, in tow.
As soon as Brittany and Dan arrived, DJ, their energetic 1-year-old, was off to the races, captivated by the tractor in the field. His wide-eyed wonder set the tone for the afternoon, adding a playful touch to the session before we even got started.
Once everyone was ready, we kicked off the session right there on the dirt road. The golden light of the late afternoon sun painted the perfect backdrop. Brittany and Dan walked hand-in-hand down the path, Brittany cradling baby Nate in her arms, while Dan kept pace with DJ, who was still fascinated by everything around him.
After capturing some lovely moments on the road, we made our way up the trails that wind through the woods behind my house. DJ and Dan got into a playful leaf-throwing battle, with Brittany and Nate sitting off to the side, laughing.
As the sun began its final descent, I was hopeful we’d get one of those breathtaking sunsets that fall sometimes gifts us. I wasn’t sure if the sky would deliver, but as we wrapped up our time in the woods and made our way back toward the open fields, the colors started to appear. Deep oranges, and a hint of soft pink stretched across the sky, making the perfect backdrop to finish off their engagement/family session.
We shot until the last drop of sunlight slipped beyond the horizon. We even grabbed a few of Brittany’s sister and maid of honor, since they were there to help with the boys. This was one of those sessions that felt more like spending time with friends than working, and I can't wait to share the images with them.
