Maine & NH Wedding & Engagement Photographer // Taryn & Leah // Fort Williams, Cape Elizabeth ME
Meeting Leah and Taryn for the first time during their engagement session at Fort Williams was such a treat. These two are one of my couples for next year, and let me tell you—they’re the kind of people who make you want to fast-forward to their wedding day just to hang out with them again. They’re so natural and comfortable together, it’s like they’ve been rehearsing for this shoot their whole lives. Spoiler alert: they nailed it.
And can we talk about the weather? A winter day at the beach that wasn’t absolutely freezing? Someone must have been manifesting hard because I’ve been to Fort Williams when it felt like the wind wanted to rip your face off. But not this time—it was downright pleasant.
We kicked things off in the garden at the back of the park. This spot is my go-to because the early golden hour light there is just chef’s kiss. From there, we made our way to a field of goldenrod. Okay, it’s not actually golden this time of year—more of a soft, pretty brown—but stay with me. That earthy tone against the golden sunlight? Absolute magic.
Leah and Taryn made my job so easy. I could’ve probably just handed them my camera and they’d still come out with amazing photos. They were that natural.
Next, we hit the lawn for its perfect golden light. They swayed, they spun, they kissed, they nuzzled—it was like watching a romantic comedy montage, but way cuter because it was real life.
Then came the trek to the lighthouse. The gate to the rocks was locked,, but we still soaked in the scenery and got some stunning shots with the lighthouse in the background. Fort Williams never disappoints.
Finally, we wrapped things up at the beach, where the sun was setting and painting the sky with this dreamy, faint purple hue. Leah and Taryn danced like no one was watching, strolled hand-in-hand, and just breathed in the salty sea air. It was one of those moments where you just stop and think, "Wow, I get to do this for a living."
This session was everything I love about engagement shoots: laughter, love, and just the right amount of goofiness. Leah and Taryn brought their A-game, and now I’m counting down the days until their wedding. If this is what their engagement session was like, their big day is going to be a total knockout.
