Cornish Maine Newborn Photographer // Baby Oscar 12.9.21

I finally had another boy to photograph! I have literally only had 2 baby boys over the past 2 months. I love photographing baby girls, but was more than happy to break the streak!

Oscar’s mom called me just as his other mom was about to go into labor! I love these phone calls. I ask “When is the baby due?” just to be told that Oscar was actually overdue. It’s so funny! I never like to turn anyone away, even with a busy schedule. It’s so important to have newborn pictures done! So, of course, I blocked off a time that worked for all of us and off to the hospital Oscar’s mom went. I could not wait to meet him and his family!

I had gotten the call that Oscar had arrived and both he and mom were doing great! The day before his photo shoot, I designed sets that fit what Oscar’s moms were looking for. They preferred to keep everything super neutral, which I always love. I know when I say that I will keep a lot of the sets in the browns family, to parents it sounds pretty gross. But honestly, I could shoot neutral all day, everyday! It also matches every decor. Just imagine how beautiful all these pictures would look on anyone’s walls!

I arrived and unpacked my travel studio. I set up my various backdrops and lighting. Next, I pulled out the little boy outfits that I had picked and got mom’s approval. We got him dressed and swaddled and mom topped him off with a little milk. I feel like I always say this, but he slept soooooo well! For the most part Oscar had been sleeping really well anyway, so this did not surprise me. He loved being swaddled. What newborn doesn’t love being swaddled, right!?! He may have gotten a little mad at me when I unswaddled him to expose his cute little overalls underneath, but understandably so. He had been super cozy and I disrupted his nap! He went right back to sleep and we did a few more set ups.

I always love to grab a couple of detail and artsy-fartsy shoots too. I love incorporating hands and feet for some reason. I just love the size contrast.

Next we did some family pictures. Even Edwin, the cat participated. And, did I forget to mention that Oscar was still asleep. He had woken up briefly to grab a quick snack, but was out like a light after that. He did amazingly well! I seriously get the best babies!
