Cornish Maine Wedding Photographer // Kirsten & Lewie 7.10.21 // Newagen Seaside Inn

Way back, before the pandemic in 2019, Kirsten and Lewie contacted me to photograph their wedding in Southport, Maine. Kirsten had “patiently” waited for a year for Lewie to propose. She was convinced that there would be no way for him to surprise her. Well, she was very wrong. They were in the middle of purchasing their first home. Lewie had told her that they had to do the walkthrough about a week prior to closing. This is all very normal stuff and I would have never saw it coming! Instead of being their walk through he proposed at their new home and definitely surprised Kirsten!

Little did they know at the time of planning their wedding, a year later we would be right in the beginning of a pandemic. Spring 2020 rolled around and we had multiple conversations about how we were going to try to move forward if allowed. Luckily, they could have their wedding, just not how they had always dreamed. They really wanted to be surrounded by friends and family, but had to instead pick a handful of their closest people to be on their side so they could keep their original date. It really was a perfect day. They had a short ceremony on the lawn of the Newagen Seaside Inn, followed by a couple of toasts. The was it short and sweet!

Now, I had already said this was not the wedding that they both really wanted, but they were happy to be married and not have to wait another year. Although they were already married, they decided to do it all over again in 2021, but this time their wedding was exactly how they wanted it. They had a full wedding party and got to include them all in their “first dance”. The look on Kirsten’s face to see herself surrounded by all her closest friends and family was priceless. The night was filled with so much love for these two. It was really an amazing experience to be a part of!
