Cornish Maine Newborn Photographer // Why I Chose to Specialize in Both Lifestyle & Posed Studio Newborn Photography
Originally, I was going to title this blog “Why You Should Choose a Newborn Photographer That Specializes in Both Lifestyle and Posed Studio Photography”, but art and style is something that is completely subjective, right?!? Taste is a super personal decision. I, myself, am a very opinionated person and I would never be so bold as to assume my opinions should be the same as yours. So here’s why I chose to take a different approach to my newborn photo sessions.
First, let’s start with posed studio style, since this is typically how I start my newborn photoshoots. I absolutely love the idea of being able to design and perfect my setups. I like to play with different props and wrap textures. In the “studio”environment I have complete control over the lighting, backdrop and props. The only variable is the baby of course! Not every baby sleeps for their session ad even though that would be ideal, it’s also ok if they don’t! I love watching my ideas come to life when I shoot. This is one of the reasons why I love newborn photoshoots so much. They really do feed my creative soul!
I may eat my words at some point, but studio family pictures kind of bore me. This was the deciding factor in me choosing to do the family portion of my newborn sessions as a lifestyle photoshoot. There’s something about the connection in lifestyle type sessions that I’m drawn to. It’s probably the same reason why I love shooting weddings. I’m constantly telling my couples that they need to anyways be touching or be very close in their pictures to show connection. Showing the bond between baby and their new parents is super important.
A lot of work goes into these photoshoots to make sure that I leave my clients with the best of both worlds. At the end of the day, all of that is worth the end result!
