Cornish, Maine Newborn Photographer // Charli // New Baby Photo Shoot
I love seeing the families that I photograph over and over again. I had captured Kelli & Tyler’s wedding a few years back and had even driven to Boston to photograph their first daughter right after she was born. Now their family was growing again. This time they had the most adorable little boy!
I always go into newborn sessions that have an older sibling knowing that I am going to have to divide the session a little differently then when its just the baby. I always want the older sibling to feel just as special as the new baby. It’s a lot for a little person to take in!
On the day of the session everyone arrived looking perfect! I figured that we would start with Finley and Charlie together. That way we could warm up Finley to her surroundings and get Charlie little sleepy for his turn in a few minutes. Finley didn’t want to sit with her new little brother to start off with, so we started with just her to get the ball rolling.
Finley is a complete goofball. She laughed as her dad flipped her upside down and we made fake sneezes. She sat with her favorite stuffed puppy and read him a book for some of the pictures. I love incorporating kid’s lovies into their pictures. Yes, I know that they are often a little beat up, but its something they cherish and is an important part of their childhood. Definitely something that is photo worthy!
Next, little Charlie was drifting to sleep. I got him all swaddled and started him off in a basket. He was so snuggled in that he just snoozed away. I grabbed some detail shots, which are quickly becoming my favorites. Then I put him in the next outfit.
Charlie did not enjoy not being completely swaddled at first but eventually gave into the idea of hanging out in his little outfit in my bucket. As they all do! He slept off and on for a few minutes. Really, that’s all I need. Then it was time to head outside for some family portraits. We went out and visited with the goats for a minute and did a few quick family pictures. Then it was back in to finish off the family pictures. We made use of the beautifully filtered light that comes through the front windows of the studio and the couch. Charlie, Finley and their parents all snuggled in while we wrapped up family picture time.
I love watching the families that I photograph grow and these guys are no exception!
